Ask the parents first
A gift from grandparents for a grandchild with type 1 diabetes fails when it creates work: another login, another charger, another device the clinic did not ask for. Text or call the parents. Ask whether the child already has a CGM, whether they want connected lights, and whether a ship date in 2027 still works for the birthday or holiday you have in mind. What not to buy instead of care
Do not treat a teddy as a CGM, insulin pump, primary alarm, or clinic plan. If the grandchild does not have a sensor yet, plush-only is the honest gift. Smart lights need a connected CGM.
