Color is a language most little kids already have
Green means in range. Yellow means check soon. Red means needs attention. That mapping is GluBear’s kid-facing layer for blood sugar tracking. It is not a new glucose scale. It is a translation of data the CGM already measured.
Numbers stay on the medical devices
mg/dL, arrows, and alarm thresholds belong on Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, and the parent app. A preschooler hugging a bear should not have to read those. If the light is yellow or red, a caregiver uses the CGM, not the plush, to decide what to do.
Why we did not put a screen on the bear
A face-up display would pull the child back into clinical mode. Some new pumps even move controls off a device screen on purpose. We went further for ages 3–12: no numbers on the bear at all. Soft light keeps the companion a companion. Squeeze-able ears let them check in as play. That is a product choice, not a claim that colors are more accurate than a CGM.
