Leaving with a folder is not the same as having the words
Clinic education matters. Coping with type 1 diabetes still needs words a child can use: how to tell a coach they need juice, or how to tell a babysitter they feel off. That language shows up at 2 a.m., at pizza, at recess. GluBear is built so a kid can try those moments in play first.
Understanding comes before the “good” number
A1C is not the scoreboard for Kids Zone. Games and stories are for communication: naming a feeling, noticing a color, asking a grown-up. You cannot change a routine you cannot talk about. Play is where that talk starts, without grading the child.
What a practice round looks like here
Squeeze an ear to check in. Follow a story where a character stops for a snack. See green, yellow, or red when the real CGM has something to say. None of that replaces a 504 plan or a school nurse. It is a quiet run-through before the hallway.
People who already get it
Places like Camp Kudzu Inc. work because a child does not have to explain a pump, a CGM, or a low. Home and school are not camp. A shared light language is one way a kid can signal without giving a lecture. The CGM still holds the medical truth.
We recently connected with Camp Kudzu's director. We would love to partner with them: comfort and play at home that rhymes with the confidence kids build at camp, never as a stand-in for their medical team or programs.
